Studied composition with Walter Piston at Harvard Univ., spring, 1946.

Professor theory-composition, School of Music, Syracuse University, 1951-85. Yearly recitals of solo and chamber works during each of these years. Composition and production of Opera, "The Postponment", 1959; performance of Symphony, 1961; of Symphony 2 by Syracuse Symphony, 1967.
  Seminar with Robert Moog, summer, 1966, to study electronic music. Founded and directed Electronic Studio of School of Music, Syracuse University, 1966-85. Began production and presentation of multi-media events combining electronic music with visual and dramatic arts from 1966 thru 1976. Events were presented in Syracuse and at various colleges in the Northeastern US: at Composers' Forum, the Gate Theatre, The Kitchen, Automation House in NYC, and at four of Charlottte Moorman's Festivals of the Avant Garde, also in NYC.

Began a series of Electronic Symphonies, first using only analog electronic sounds as in Symphony 1 in 1976, and gradually adding sounds from the many new digital keyboards as they came on the market.
